Things to Do at Night in San Diego

On the coast of Southern California, San Diego is a popular destination for tourists visiting the state. There are a variety of daytime activities such as going to the beach and shopping at Seaport Village, but sometimes people overlook the nighttime activities. The city is full of things to see and do during the evening hours, many of which cannot be done during the day.

  1. Nighttime at San Diego Zoo

    • Nighttime at the San Diego Zoo is a special event held each year during June through September from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. each night. The activities are different each year, but there is always plenty of fun. Some events of past seasons include splash painting in the front plaza and a free-flight bird show featuring birds housed at the zoo.

    Ghostly Tours in History

    • Ghostly Tours in History offers up an evening of exploring the many historical sites in the city. The tours run from May through Halloween of each year and several unique tours are presented. The Ghost Limo Tour provides guests with a three-hour tour of some of the most haunted locations in the city, such as Old Town and the graveyard. More adventurous visitors may wish to participate in the walking tour of the Gaslamp Quarter.

    Ray at Night

    • Ray at Night is a gallery walk held in the North Park area on the second Saturday of each month. The large event draws an average of 1,500 people. There are many art displays that include such works as blown glass, ceramics and paintings. While walking down the streets and taking in the many works of art, visitors can also enjoy live music and food stands set up for the evening.
