Let someone know where you are going, take plenty of water, a cell phone and your swim suit. Wear sensible shoes and loose fitting clothing. Wear a hat and take sunscreen and your camera.
Talk to the concierge at your hotel for some local maps of Arikok National Park. Obtain a bus schedule and locations for drop off and pick up and local telephone numbers for the taxi service.
Leaving your hotel, you can either take the public transportation or a taxi to Arikok National Park. There are multiple pick up and drop off points all along the Arikok National Park, public transportation is extremely easy to navigate and drop off points are near the entrance of every major resort hotel.
Begin your hike at the Arikok National Park. Since there are no formal hiking tours available, you are on your own.
Hike along clearly marked trails through the Arikok National park. Go along the walking trail to Casibari Boulders. This is a cluster of huge boulders that sit together in the northern part of the park. Some of these boulders weigh several tons and you can climb up on them to view the island.
Climb the volcanic rock formations along the coastline of Arikok National Park. The Aruba lava formation, a quartz formation and a limestone formation extends inward from the coastline. Stop and take pictures of the sea and shore line. Proceed north west to the rock outcrops, boulders and crevices along the seashore. Be careful of your footing, the rocks can be slippery.
Hike over to the rugged terrain surround the Natural Pool, the area is not accessible by car; you have to climb over the rocks to get to the Pool. Take a secluded swim there in the volcanic stone circle known as the Conchi.
Proceed to the Old Stone California lighthouse on the north western tip of the Island. There is a long stretch of land heading toward the lighthouse, the terrain has small rocks, sand and gravel, be careful with your footing. Here you will be able to get wonderful pictures of the island from this location. Catch a bus and return to your hotel or call a taxi for pick up, the buses run all along the Park area and easily accessible.
