Guests wishing to visit the Downtown Disney area at Disney World do not need a ticket. This shopping, dining and entertainment venue is free of an admission charge. In addition to not having to pay to get in, there are also some free things available. Make a stop at the Lego store and get a hands-on, interactive Lego-building experience. Kids and adults can build their very own creation to admire or car to race on the track. Though the building experience is free, the Lego pieces must stay behind. If you have a chocolate craving, visit the Ghiradeli store where they continually hand out samples of their world-famous chocolates.
Spend the night walking through Disney's BoardWalk, which, like Downtown Disney, is free to enter. This area is filled with dining and shopping venues, including the ESPN Club. The BoardWalk offers a great view of Crescent Lake and lights up when the sun goes down.
There is no cost to use any of the transportation methods at Walt Disney World. If you are looking for something to do, hop on one of the Disney watercraft vessels for a leisurely ride. The Disney Friendship Boats run from the World Showcase at Epcot to Disney's Hollywood Studios and includes all of the resorts in between.
Downtown Disney also has its own watercraft transportation, which takes guests all the way to Disney's Port Orleans Riverside Resort and back. This is a long ride from one end to the other, but the view is worth it. Please note that you may be asked to exit the boat when you reach Riverside, but you can always re-board after exploring the resort.
Enjoy the free entertainment of Disney's Fort Wilderness Campfire, which occurs nightly at sundown. The campfire, sing-a-longs and fun are free, but note that there is a small charge if you want to make s'mores. Chip and Dale Have been known to make a visit to the campfires too.
Every night, the Electrical Water Pageant makes its way through the waters of the Seven Seas Lagoon in front of the Magic Kingdom Park. The parade lights up the night as it makes it way from the park to the resorts on the lake and back to the park. Grab a seat anywhere on the beach of the resorts and enjoy this parade as if passes by.
If you are staying at one of the Walt Disney World Resorts there are planned recreation activities offered throughout the day. Many of these activities include arts, crafts, sporting activities and games. All of these activities are free with the exception of some Disney Vacation Club crafts, which have a small fee to cover materials.
