Magic Kingdom Fun Facts

Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom covers 107 acres. Underneath the park lies a complex of tunnels that covers approximately 9 acres. This was designed so that guests never see the behind-the-scenes daily events (employees moving from park to park, trash being collected and so on) and the magic of the park can stay intact. This is just one of the many fun facts associated with the Magic Kingdom.
  1. Hidden Mickeys

    • Many Mickey Mouse silhouettes were hidden in and on the attractions and buildings at Disney World as they were built. One such Hidden Mickey can be found in Minnie's Country House in ToonTown. In the kitchen, above the oven, are a large skillet and two smaller pots hung in such a way as to form the shape of Mickey's head and ears. There is no formal documentation of the number or location of Hidden Mickeys.

    Lost and Found

    • An average of 15 children get separated from their parents each day at the Magic Kingdom. More than 100 pairs of sunglasses are turned in to the Magic Kingdom's Lost and Found every day.

    Mickey-Speak

    • If a guest or cast member needs medical attention, an "alpha unit" is called rather than an "ambulance" so that guests do not become nervous. Magic Kingdom employees also call vomit a "protein spill."

    Main Street

    • Main Street is sloped slightly, getting higher as you walk toward Cinderella Castle, so that when guests leave at the end of the day they have an easier downhill walk.

There are only three full-sized buildings on Main Street. The rest are sized smaller as you get closer to the castle to give it the appearance of being larger than it is.

    Food and Drink

    • Each year, more than 50 million Cokes, 10 million hamburgers, 7 million hot dogs, 9 million pounds of french fries and more than 300,000 pounds of popcorn are eaten at Walt Disney World.

The smell of freshly baked cookies coming from the bakery on Main Street in the Magic Kingdom is an artificially created liquid and the scent is piped out of the bakery.
