Things to Do When You're Bored in San Diego

With so many things to do in San Diego, it's difficult to imagine that someone can be bored when visiting there. And since the city boasts some of the best weather in the world, most things you might do are out of doors. So if boredom overtakes you, try some of the hundreds of things outside that are both fun and stimulating.
  1. Balboa Park

    • This is one of the most popular parks in America. It is the home of more than a dozen museums and the San Diego Zoo, which is world-famous for its array of some of the rarest animal species. The San Diego Zoo has created almost a dozen animal habitats that range from the rainforest at the bottom of the world to the tundra at the top. The schedule at Balboa Park changes frequently, so ask for the latest agenda.

    Petco Park

    • If baseball is your favorite game, take in a San Diego Padres game at Petco Park during baseball season. This park is said the have the best sight lines in all of baseball, and you'll see awe-inspiring views of the city from your seat.

    Cabrillo National Monument

    • In 1542, Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo began a voyage from Navidad, Mexico. About three months later, he landed on the western coast of what became the United States, the first European to do so. A monument depicting his voyage stands at his landing site. You'll also see the Point Loma Lighthouse, which was built in 1855, along with Point Loma, a critical part of our West Coast defense. There are several reminders of United States history there to see.

    Old Town Trolley

    • You can hop on and off as you please to explore the sights of San Diego, referred to by many people as "America's finest city." Spend time at historic Gaslamp Quarter, Del Coronado and the Embarcadero as you learn more about the city. Get off the trolley for lunch and some shopping at Seaport Village or or at Coronado Ferry Landing, where you will see downtown San Diego but from across the bay.
