With a population of almost 3 million people, Chicago is one of the largest cities in the United States. In 1885, Chicago was the site of the world's first skyscraper, the Home Insurance Company building. Since then, the city has become a huge tourist destination with more then 45 million people visiting in 2007, as reported by Explore Chicago. The Windy City is an easy place to meet people and take part in social activities.

    • A favorite pastime in Chicago since 1914 has been going to baseball games at Wrigley Field, which seats 41,160. Whether you are a visitor or a resident of Chicago, Wrigley Field is a great place to chat with the stranger next to you or join in with others in the cheering of the hometown Cubs.

    Recreational Lakefront

    • Chicago is home to an 18-mile lakefront path featuring a large number of summer activities. The lakefront is a popular spot for residents to visit and an equally popular spot to socialize with other residents.The area offers a number of recreational sports, like softball and swimming, for residents or visitors.

    Chicago Summer Dance

    • The Chicago summer dance festival, hosted by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs, features dance from all over the world. Dozens of bands play music such as salsa, cha-cha, and swing at the largest dance festival in the United States with over 100,000 visitors in 2009. Every night, professional dancers give free dance lessons on an open-air 4,600 square-foot floor.
