Flagship Cinemas is based in Boston, Massachusetts, but has 12 theaters around the country, including one in Homestead. The Seminole Cultural Arts Theatre began as a silent movie house in 1921, and it has experienced several ups and downs along with the city of Homestead. A renovation was begun in 2006 to restore the theater to its original state, so that it could host several cultural events upon completion. The theater is to serve as a performing arts center for dance, magic, community events and festivals; a conference center for businesses and organizations; an arts education center; and a movie house that shows classic films on Sunday and Monday evenings.
Part of the nationwide Regal Cinemas chain, the Southland Mall Stadium 16, located 10 miles from Homestead in downtown Miami, features 16 screens showing first-run films every day. The theater offers RealD 3D and IMAX screens for an enhanced movie experience. Like other Regal chains, the Southland Mall theater offers discounts to its Regal Crown Club frequent moviegoer cardholders.
Located 24 miles from Homestead in the Cocowalk Shopping Center, the Paragon Grove 13 Theater features 13 screens showing first-run movies. The viewer's theater experience is enhanced by stadium seating and Sony HD Digital Projection. Movie fans who do not want to fight for good seats can also purchase reserve seats in advance. The theater's location in the Cocowalk Shopping Center puts it in proximity to the center's bars, restaurants, shopping and live entertainment.
