How does the Jamaican language play an integral role in education?

While Jamaican patois or Jamaican Creole is recognized as a major means of communication among Jamaicans, it doesn't play an integral role in the country's education system. The official language of Jamaica is English, so the language of instruction and literacy at most educational institutions throughout the country is standard English. The education provided follows standards prescribed by the Ministry of Education.
