IBAN in Singapore: UOB Uses UEN, Not IBAN

Singapore Does Not Use IBAN

The International Bank Account Number (IBAN) system has not been adopted in Singapore. United Overseas Bank (UOB) and all Singapore banks use domestic account numbering.

Singapore's Equivalent

• Unique Entity Number (UEN): 9-10 digit identifier for businesses (not bank accounts)
• Bank Account Format: Typically 10-12 digits, bank-specific
• SWIFT/BIC: UOVBGSGG (UOB) for international wires

For International Transfers to UOB Singapore

Provide:

1. Beneficiary name & address
2. UOB account number (10-12 digits)
3. SWIFT/BIC: UOVBGSGG
4. Bank name: United Overseas Bank Limited
5. Bank address: 80 Raffles Place, UOB Plaza, Singapore 048624
6. Purpose of payment (required by MAS)

Why No IBAN?

Singapore's domestic clearing (FAST, GIRO, MEPS+) uses proprietary formats. IBAN adoption would require massive system overhaul with limited benefit for a financial hub already using SWIFT/ISO 20022.
