When did Nigeria move its capital from Lagos to Abuja?

The capital of Nigeria has been Abuja since December 12, 1991. Before that date, Lagos had been the capital of Nigeria since 1914 when the British colonial government established it as the capital of the Colony and Protectorate of Nigeria.
