Lesotho's Currency: The Loti and South African Rand

Lesotho uses the loti (plural: maloti) as its official currency. The loti is pegged 1:1 to the South African rand, meaning both currencies have identical value and both are legal tender in Lesotho.

This monetary arrangement reflects Lesotho's economic integration with South Africa, which completely surrounds the mountain kingdom. Visitors can use either currency interchangeably throughout the country.
