How to Find Historical Exchange Rates

If you have a company that conducts business with overseas companies, you likely deal with different currencies. When reconciling old account statements, this can be a challenge due to the constant fluctuations in currency exchange rates. Fortunately, you can easily access historical currency exchange rate data on the Internet. Finding historical currency exchange rate data is free and something that you can easily do on your own.

      Visit a currency exchange website that features historical exchange rate data. Examples include XE, OANDA and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York websites. There is also historical exchange rate data on the Federal Reserve Board's H.10 Release website.

      Select the two currencies for which you want exchange rate data. Also select the date or date range that you want to retrieve.

      Click on “Find,” “Go,” “Search” or the action button that is on the website you are using. This will bring up the historical exchange rate data for the currencies and dates that you have selected.
