How to Change USD to CAD

The USD (United States dollar) is the national currency in the United States, and the CAD (Canadian dollar) is the national currency in Canada. Calculating the exchange rate and currency exchange is simple and can be carried out at many places.

Instructions

  1. Calculating Exchange Rate

    • 1

Calculate how much money you want to exchange from USD into CAD.

    • 2

Check to see the exchange rate between the two currencies. XE.com is one website with this information (see Resources).

    • 3

Multiply the number of U.S. dollars you have by the exchange rate (on 25 April 2010, it was $0.99). For example, $100 (U.S.) becomes $99.96 (Canadian).

    • 4

Determine how much you want to exchange. There are multiple places you can exchange money in the U.S.

    • 5

Take your U.S. dollars to your local bank or Travelex and ask them to exchange your money. Alternatively, airports will also have exchange bureaus; however these will charge extra for conversion or offer worse exchange rates.
