Find a currency exchange rate website by entering the key phase "currency exchange rate," without the quotation marks, into a search engine, such as Google.
Select and view a credible currency exchange rate website. Consider using a website such as XE. Your bank's website may also have a section on the current exchange rates for major currencies.
Locate the currency converter on the currency exchange website. On XE, it is labeled "universal currency converter." Enter a dollar amount (one dollar works well to get an idea of the exchange rate), the name of your country and the name of the country you plan to visit. Click "Enter" or "Convert."
Read the exchange rate provided. If the exchange rate is less than one, you get less of the foreign currency for each U.S. dollar. If the exchange rate is one or almost one, the foreign currency is equivalent to the U.S. dollar. If the exchange rate is more than one, you get more of the foreign currency for each U.S. dollar.
