Book award travel by calling the airline's reservations hotline directly. Select the "Award Travel" option and inform the representative that you'd like to redeem your accrued miles for a ticket. Specify the origin and destination, dates or travel and provide the representative with the name and personal information of the person traveling.
Use the airline's website to book award travel. Find the option to do so listed under either the main "Reservations" menu or in the same location as the airline's loyalty program information. Enter the origin and destination and travel dates. After confirming that your itinerary is available, enter the traveler's name and identifying information to proceed with your booking.
Pay taxes and fees, no matter which option you choose. Your mileage covers only the airfare itself and not supplementary amounts like departure and landing fees, the September 11 Security fee and sales tax. If you make you reservation over the phone, provide the agent with your credit card number so he can charge it. If you make the reservation online, enter the number yourself.
