A dog must receive a rabies shot before entering the United Kingdom. You must wait 21 days after the shot to travel with the dog to the United Kingdom. The dog also must not visit a nonapproved country six months before entering the United Kingdom.
A dog that is traveling to the United Kingdom must receive a blood test from a Pet Travel Scheme (PETS)-approved laboratory to assure the dog is healthy. The dog must then receive a pet passport from the veterinarian approving the dog for travel.
Plan ahead to assure you meet the deadlines for all shots and paperwork. Keep in mind the dog must be treated for tapeworms or ticks within 24 hours of travel as well.
