Go to AA.com and scroll to the "Flight Status" box underneath the area where you can book a flight reservation. "Gates and Times" will be highlighted.
Enter the flight number and click "Go." If you do not know the flight number, enter the departure and arrival airports and time of day the flight departed.
Select the correct flight from the list of flights that met your search criteria and click "Select." You will see your flight and its estimated departure and arrival times and actual departure and arrival times, if available. If you just entered the flight number, you will be sent directly to the flight's status page.
Create a flight-status notification by clicking "Create" under the "Flight Status Notification" column. This is located on the same flight status screen described in Step 3.
Choose to receive a text message or voice mail and enter your email address or phone number depending on the option you chose.
Chose to be notified of the departure or arrival of the flight and enter the flight number and departure date. Under "Notification Preferences," scroll to the amount of time you want to be notified before the departure or arrival of the flight. Click "Submit" when you are finished.
