Visit the Southwest Airlines official website.
Click on "My Travel" in the right-hand column. Another menu will open up. Click on "Flight Status." You can reach the same page by clicking on "Travel Tools" in the upper right-hand column. A drop-down menu will appear. Click on "Flight Status."
Select a departure city and date from the drop down menus. You must also either select an arrival city or enter the flight number. Click "Check Status."
Locate the relevant flight from the list of possible flights. If you entered a flight number, only one flight will appear. Click on "View Status" to see the arrival and departure status of your flight.
Track the flight in the air by visiting the Flightaware website.
Enter SWA (Southwest Airlines) and the flight number in the box labeled "Airline Flight Tracker" in the left-hand column. Click "Track Flight" to see a map of the plane's route as it travels as well as a summary of the flight's status.
Click on "Don't Know the Flight #?" in the "Airline Flight Tracker" box if you do not know the flight number. This will open a new screen where you can enter the departure and arrival airports. If you do not know the name of the airport, begin typing the city name and that city's airport names will appear. Select one. Click "Search" to view a list of flights and their statuses. Select the flight you wish to track, and it will appear on the map.
