The Medion 3212 GPS was introduced in March 2008 in the United Kingdom. It is a portable, budget GPS with many features. The E3212 has a full-color, 3.5-inch transparent film transistor, or TFT, touchscreen. For the life of the system, maps of any country can be downloaded for free, according to the manufacturer. It attaches to the car's windshield with a suction cup. It operates using the Windows CE 5.0 operating system. Also included is SiRFInstantFixII satellite prediction technology. This quickens satellite acquisition time to less than 10 seconds with or without Internet accessibility.
Text-to-speech instructions are available with Medion's GoPal Navigator ME 5 software. Also, the unit does give the user the opportunity to select from arrow, 2D or 3D displays. Additionally, the user can map out the entire route before beginning a trip. The GoPal 4.0 software offers the opportunity of selecting a walking route or driving route. Also included with the Navigator ME 5 software is a Berlitz Travel Guide and points of interest.
This GPS is one of the cheapest GPS units on the market to include a radio data system and traffic management control for traffic updates at no extra cost for the life of the unit. The E3212 warns of route delays, but it does not offer alternative routing.
