Keep things light. Try to limit yourself to only 20 pounds of packed items. This will keep your bag light enough to carry around with you and easy to handle when stowing it away in overhead compartments.
Use Transportation Security Administration (TSA) approved toiletries. Due to TSA regulation regarding liquids on airplanes, you will have to pack only those items allowed in your carry-on. Travelers are only allowed toiletries in clear bottles, no larger than 3.4 ounces, that are packed in a one quart sized zip lock bag. You can pack as many bottles that fit in the clear bag. You might also want to consider purchasing toiletries upon arrival at your destination.
Plan to do laundry. Since you are packing everything into a carry-on, there will not be enough room for ten days worth of clothing. To help reduce the amount of clothes you bring with you, plan time to do some laundry while away. Instead of waiting for the clothes to dry, bring everything back to your room after washing and hang up in the bathroom.
Mix and match clothes. Pack outfits that can be changed around creating a whole new look each day of your trip. Try to keep items down to five of each, such as five pants, skirts or shorts and five shirts. Limit yourself to two pairs of shoes, one for dress and one for comfort.
Pack wrinkle free clothing. To help reduce the time you will be ironing your clothes during your vacation or business travel, try to pack clothes that are wrinkle free. To help reduce the amount of wrinkles roll clothes before packing them in your carry-on. To effectively roll your clothes fold in half and then start rolling from one end until you have smoothly rolled the entire article of clothing.
