Research the destinations you will be visiting. Learn about the different shore excursions and activities. Book hotels and plan for activities such as snorkeling or scuba diving.
Find out about the cruise's extra amenities. Most cruises offer spas, restaurants and entertainment. Be sure to book any of these to ensure your seat.
Pack your medications, if necessary. Ask your doctor for any refills before you embark on your cruise. You may also need additional medication if you lose or damage your medication.
Ask your doctor about motion sickness and anti-diarrheal medication. Travelers often experience nausea, especially on a cruise. In addition, foods from other countries may make you sick, so it is best to prepare for such a situation.
Gather your travel documents. Since you will be on a transatlantic cruise, you will need your passport, green card or travel visa. Include your boarding pass, itinerary and identification with your documents.
Purchase insurance prior to your trip, in the case you become injured or ill. Bring your medical insurance card, medical history or medical card with you, if necessary.
Leave copies of your travel documents and itinerary with a trusted friend or family member. If you have pets or plants, ask that person to watch after them.
Pack seasonal clothing. Include a variety of sweatshirts, pants, shorts, swimsuits and eveningwear. You may find that it is colder out at sea or some countries. Find out about your cruise's dress code, especially for dinnertime.
