RV Supply Checklist

Hitting the road for a nice vacation is great family entertainment. With any travel, preparation is important for making sure the good times continue. Plan well and pack essential items in your RV to cover life's little emergencies as well as everyday needs. With most everything you want on hand, unexpected stops to buy supplies will be few and far between.
  1. First Aid

    • Pack a first aid kit for minor health concerns.

Bumps, bruises and stomach aches happen on the road as often as they do at home. Carry a well-stocked first aid kit in your RV to cover your basic needs. Adhesive bandages, disinfectant wash, antibiotic ointment and peroxide come in handy for little scrapes and cuts. A bottle of over-the-counter stomach soothing medication helps calm upset stomachs caused by motion sickness or heavy food. Other items to include area reusable ice pack, insect bite and sting soother, insect repellent, sunburn soothing lotion, sunscreen, tweezers, scissors, cold medication and a bottle of analgesic tablets. Also consider stocking butterfly bandages to close a large or deep cut until you can reach medical attention.

    Cleaning Supplies

    • Stock household cleaners to keep your RV tidy.

Housekeeping duties don't disappear just because you are away from home. A well-stocked cleaning supply cabinet will help you keep the living area tidy. Glass cleaner, dishwashing liquid, sponges, rags, a broom and dustpan, portable vacuum, plastic grocery bags and heavy rubber gloves are recommended by Kristen's Guide. Other important items to include are trash bags, laundry detergent, disinfectant spray, disinfectant wipes, paper towels, stain remover and disinfecting cleaner for kitchens and bathrooms. It is probably not necessary to pack a mop. Solid surface flooring in RVs is limited to small areas that can be cleaned with a sponge or rags.

    RV Equipment

    • Make sure you have the supplies you need for extended stays.

Many items are needed to keep your RV running and operating right. A sewer hose and sewer hose fittings, garden hose, water pressure regulator, electrical extension cord and adapters, fire extinguisher and black water chemicals are among the items recommended at RV lifestyle. Other items may be needed for your specific RV such as leveling blocks, wheel chocks and an adhesive level for making sure your RV is raised level when it is parked. It is also important to bring toilet paper specifically made for RV sewage systems.

    Tools

    • Store a tool chest on board for mechanical issues.

No RV checklist is complete without mentioning tools that you may need. Needle-nose pliers, wrenches, a tire gauge, water pump pliers, a folding combination tool, socket wrenches, screwdrivers, a crescent wrench, an ohm meter and a hacksaw are part of the exhaustive list of tools recommended by Bob Gummersall of RVers Online. Consider mechanical troubles that could come up in your travels and try to prepare by loading your tool chest with tools you may need.
