JetBlue Carry-On Requirements

Airline customers often carry bags and personal items onto the aircraft to increase convenience and avoid paying baggage fees. JetBlue Airlines offers carry-on regulations similar to those found on most major airlines and also adheres to the standards of the Transportation Security Authority (TSA) on all of its flights. Always consult the airline guidelines and TSA rules before packing for your next JetBlue flight.
  1. Baggage Allowance

    • Every JetBlue traveler is allowed one carry-on bag free of charge, provided it fits in the overhead storage bin. Sizing requirements on these items vary, depending on the aircraft. The size limit for Airbus A320 planes is 26 inches wide by 18 inches tall by 12 inches deep. The size limitation for the EMBRAER 190 aircraft is 24-by-16-by-10.

    Personal Items

    • In addition to one carry-on bag, each passenger can bring one personal item on the plan, such as a purse, laptop or briefcase. Your personal item must not exceed 17-by-12.5 inches in order to fit on the floor in front of your seat. Electronic items like cell-phones and personal entertainment devices are permitted for use on the flight, but not during take-off or landing. There are no closet spaces for hanging garments on JetBlue flights. If you have a medical assistance item, it does not count as a carry-on.

    Carry-on Baggage Check

    • Once the aircraft's storage space reaches capacity, flight attendants will check your carry-on bag free of charge and it will be available for pick-up in the luggage section of your final destination. Always attach a luggage identification tag on your carry-on items in case they are checked due to space restrictions.

    • JetBlue adheres to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requirements for flights. Sharp objects like box cutters and knives are prohibited from carry-on, but disposable razor blades are allowed. Large sporting goods like golf clubs, baseball bats and hockey sticks must be checked. No firearms or large tools are allowed as a carry-on. Liquids must be in containers of 3.4 ounces (100 ml) or less for carry-on.

    Food

    • Food items purchased or cleared through the security checkpoint in the airport terminal are allowed to be taken on the plane, but you can't enter with alcoholic beverages. Food and drinks are available for purchase during JetBlue flights.

    Liability

    • Items are the sole responsibility of the customer on JetBlue flights. JetBlue will not assume liability for any damages to carry-on items. Be careful when storing items in overhead bins to avoid damage.
