How to Prepare a Checklist for Toiletries for a Trip

Preparing for a trip is an exciting time, full of anticipation of the fun to come. It is not as much fun to arrive at your destination, only to realize you have forgotten essential items such as a toothbrush. Forgetting your toiletries can force you to spend part of your vacation hunting down the closest drug store. Creating a toiletry checklist before you pack can mean that you are prepared for your personal needs while traveling.

Instructions

    • 1

Count the number of days you'll be traveling. A weekend trip will require a different amount of toiletries than a monthlong trip.

    • 2

Contact your hotel or lodging facility to determine which toiletries are provided there. Eliminate these from your list.

    • 3

List the toiletries that you use daily. These include items such as a toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss and mouthwash. Other items you may use include deodorant, lotion, makeup, razor and shaving products. Shampoo, conditioner and a hairdryer are other common toiletries. Contact lens wearers also may need to use a contact lens case and contact solution.

    • 4

List the toiletries that you use occasionally, such as tweezers, cotton balls, nail file and nail polish. Feminine hygiene items also may be listed. Sunscreen or moisturizer can be included as well, especially if you are visiting a place where you will need these items.

    • 5

Write the checklist with the most important daily items first. Then list the occasional items at the bottom.

    • 6

Place toiletry items in your baggage. Check off each item as you go.
