Assess your strength. Depending on the type of camping you are planning to do, you could be faced with a number of tasks that require you to have quite a bit of strength. Therefore, it’s important to prepare yourself beforehand. Diligent workouts with free weights and machines can effectively increase your overall body strength.

Check your endurance. Camping usually involves hiking, which can be an arduous activity. Make sure you’ll be able to endure possibly several hours of continued cardiovascular physical activity. Running or walking is the perfect exercise to improve endurance. Start by running or walking every other day. Take it slow though; give your body time to adjust.

Rest properly. Let your body heal for 48 hours after a strenuous workout. In addition, sleep at least eight hours a night to help your muscles recover and prevent injuries prior to your camping trip.

Get a check-up from your doctor if you have any health conditions. Your doctor will be able to advise you whether a camping trip full of hiking and other strenous activities is for you. Always bring medications and a first aid kit on your camping trip and know the location of the nearest hospital, in case of emergency.
