Carry-on baggage is limited to one bag and one personal item. The carry-on bag should not exceed 45 cubic inches (22x14x9 inches) or 115 cm (56x36x23 cm) in size. Personal Items include such things as a purses, briefcase, camera case and diaper bag. Items allowed onboard that do not count as a personal item include food for immediate consumption, wheelchairs or crutches, a coat or umbrella and one box or bag of duty free merchandise.
The fees for baggage on domestic flights are: $15 for the first bag and $25 for the second, each way, prepaid. At the airport there is a $5.00 surcharge when checking in via ticket counter, kiosk, or curbside. There is no surcharge for bags prepaid during online check-in.
All flights within the U.S. U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and Canada are now considered domestic for the sake of baggage, and should not exceed 50 lbs. and 62 linear inches (length+width+height). Anything larger will incur surcharges.
When traveling to or from most cities outside the U.S., each passenger can check in 2 bags with no added charge. Fees vary for other destinations. Generally, the first bag is free, and the second incurs a cost. For Latin America, the second bag costs $25, prepaid, for Europe it's $50, and for The Middle East, Africa, Asia and Australia, two checked bags are allowed for free.
Bags between 51 pounds and 70 pounds incur a $90 surcharge for domestic flights and $150 for international flights. Bags between 71 pounds and 100 pounds incur an additional cost of $175 on domestic flights and $300 internationally, each way.
Bags between 63 inches and 80 inches (total of length + width + height) are $175 each way (domestic and international). Anything larger is not permitted.
