What to Pack for a Spa Getaway

The purpose of a spa getaway is to relax, rejuvenate and revitalize. Leave the power suit and the high heels at home. Most spas don't allow cell phones or laptops in common areas to maintain the noncommercial, no pressure atmosphere. Dress is casual -- and beyond. While there may be activities available such as hiking or shopping, for the most part you'll be lounging and participating in body treatments and calming classes. Prepare to be pampered.
  1. Get Wet

    • Pack at least two swimsuits to wear for swimming and saunas. Bring a one-piece suit for easy movements in the pool and a skimpy version for tanning.

    Move

    • Prepare for relaxation activities and exercise sessions, such as yoga and stretching, by bringing a number of different sweat suits and workout gear.

    Warm Up

    • Get ready for a cool climate with sweatshirts, heavy socks, sweaters and loose pants.

    Cool Off

    • Bring loose-fitting lightweight pants and shorts, blouses and wraps for a spa getaway in a warm climate.

    Sleeping

    • Use the heavy plush robes furnished at most spas and wear your own comfortable sleepwear in bed.

    Cosmetics

    • Leave most of your cosmetics, hair products and lotions at home because the spa should provide nourishing lotions and body cleansing products.

    Footwear

    • Wear walking shoes, slippers, sandals and flats during your spa time. You will be going barefoot for many of the spas activities, so leave the heavy shoes behind.
