How to Pack an Overnight Bag as a Carry-on

Airlines are notorious for changing or delaying flights and changes often mean lost luggage. A lot of times, it takes a day or two to have it returned to you. If you have ever fallen victim to lost luggage, you might find it easier to pack an overnight bag and carry it on the flight with you.

Instructions

    • 1

After you have decided what you will be bringing on your trip, take out an outfit plus pajamas, socks and underwear and place them in a carry-on bag.

    • 2

Find a backpack or smaller suitcase to use as a carry-on. Make sure your bag meets the size limitations for carry-on bags. Smaller bags are also easier to travel with.

    • 3

Divide items (underwear, shirts, shorts and so on) and place them into individual plastic bags for both the suitcase and overnight bag. It is helpful when looking for something specific. Also, if security needs to search your bags, they can view and re-pack with ease.

    • 4

Roll all of your items before packing them. It leaves more room than folding.

    • 5

Reserve liquids, gels and sharp objects (nail clippers, tweezers and razors) for your regular suitcase. Pack only essential daily toiletries like makeup and medicine. Hotels will have everything else you will need to get you through and most of it is complementary.
