Packing Without Wrinkling

Packing without wrinkling your clothes is necessary to look your best when you arrive at your travel destination. To keep your clothes wrinkle-free, a careful packing strategy is required. When preparing for a trip, pack your bags early to avoid rushing, as messy packing will allow your clothes to move around and bunch up, wrinkling in the process.

Instructions

    • 1

Reduce the amount of items in your bag. You want your bag to be full so that the items inside remain in place, while not being overstuffed. Stuffing too much into your bag will bunch up your clothes and lead to wrinkling.

    • 2

Use plastic dry-cleaning bags to separate hanging clothes items. When fabric rubs together, static electricity is generated. This will wrinkle your clothes. Placing your hanging items in separate dry-cleaning bags ensures that the fabrics do not touch in your bag, eliminating wrinkles caused by friction.

    • 3

Reduce the wrinkles in your T-shirts, jeans, and other cotton-based pants by rolling rather than folding them. For T-shirts, fold the arms inward then gently roll the shirt into a cylinder. For pants, fold one leg over the other then roll the pants vertically. This eliminates creases and wrinkles due to folding.

Fold your other clothing items carefully. Tops such as button-up shirts and sweaters will ball up and develop wrinkles if rolled. For these items, carefully fold the garment into a neat square, smoothing away the wrinkles of each layer as you go. Crease lines are likely to develop, but wrinkling will be reduced.

Pack your clothing items carefully into your bag, fitting the garments as neatly together as possible. Place flat items such as folded button-up shirts at the bottom of the bag so they can lay flat. Gently fit the rest of your items into the bag such that everything inside is packed sturdily.
