Where Can I Get a Passport Photo?

To apply for a passport, you need two 2-by-2-inch photos. Your photos must be this size. If they are not, your passport application will be denied. There are places where you can get these photos so that your travels won't be delayed.
  1. Camera and/or Photography Shops

    • Most camera shops will take passport photos. When you go in, specify that you need passport photos. Photography shops, like camera shops, will most likely be able to do it for you.

    Department Stores

    • Department stores like JCPenney and Macy's and discount department stores like Wal-Mart, Kmart and Target have professional photo centers where a professional photographer will take your picture. Again, specify that it is a passport photo.

    Online

    • Websites like ePassportPhoto.com is an online photo booth that allows you to take your own pictures with your computer's camera. You can select the desired country (since countries have different requirements) and it formats the picture for you. Prices start at $6.95.

    Take Your Own Photo

    • Passport photos are specific, however, a new computer software called Passport Photo lets you take your own. The software runs about $9.95. If you have a big family in need of photos, it might be worth it.

    Travel Agencies

    • Travel agencies are becoming a thing of the past with Priceline, Expedia and Travelocity, yet there are still some around and they may be equipped to take your passport photo. If you use a travel agency already, ask about photos when you are making your travel arrangements.
