How to Find the Expiration Date on a Passport

If you are traveling soon, it is important to be aware of your passport's date of expiration. Some countries require you to have a valid passport for 6 months after the date of your arrival to that country, even if you don't plan on staying that long. If you are 16 or older, you must renew your passport every ten years, and if you are under the age of 16, you must renew your passport every 5 years.

     Open your passport to the second page. This should be a glossy page where you see your picture. The next page should have your signature on it.

     Turn the passport vertically so it is easier to read.

     Locate the second to last piece of information next to your picture. The title should be "Date of expiration/Date d'expiration/Fecha de caducidad." Under that phrase should be a date in the format of day/month/year. This is the expiration date of your passport. See photo for reference.
