Visit the Embassy of Ireland website to locate the Irish embassy or consulate nearest you (see Resources for link). Call and ask them to mail you an application for citizenship.
Get your grandparent's birth certificate. If no one in your family has this, you can call the General Register Office in Ireland at 011-353-163-540-00 and request one. They will charge you a fee of 7 Euros, which is payable by credit card over the phone.
Acquire your grandparents' marriage certificate. You will also need your parents' birth and marriage certificates. If any of these individuals is deceased, you will also need to present their death certificates as well.
Mail the completed Irish citizenship application form with all of the required documentation and an $178 application fee to the consulate or embassy.
Wait for your citizenship papers to arrive in the mail. It can take up to 18 months.
Call the Irish consulate or embassy after you receive your Irish citizenship papers arrive and ask for a passport application.
Complete and return the application with any required documents and the fee of $98.
Wait four to six weeks for your passport to arrive in the mail.
