Fill out the Irish passport application form. Application forms cannot be printed off the Internet, but can be obtained from many post offices, all Garda Stations, most Citizen Advice Centers, and the Passport Offices in Dublin and Cork.
Get two passport photos that conform to Passport Office photo guidelines. The photos must be between 35 by 45 mm and 38 by 50 mm in size, color or black and white, taken within the last six months, with a clear, frontal view of the applicant's face.
Get one passport photo and the specified section of the application form signed by a Garda Síochána for applications made in Ireland. If applying abroad, the form and photo must be signed by one of the signatories specified on the application form.
Obtain an original copy of your Irish State birth certificate as your proof of citizenship. If your name currently is different than the name that appears on your birth certificate, you must submit proof of a name change.
Pay the passport application fee (see Resources below for current fees).
Choose to either send your application by mail or to apply in person. If applying by mail, send your complete application to:

If you are applying from Munster, send your application to the Cork Passport Office. If you are applying from the rest of Ireland, send your application to the Dublin Passport Office.
You can also apply in person to the Dublin or Cork Passport Offices. If you apply in person, you will typically get your passport in 10 days.
