How to Obtain a Philippines Passport

A government-issued passport grants Philippine citizens international travel and legal exit and entry into the Philippines. It also serves as proof of identification and citizenship for the Filipino national entitled to it. A passport can be obtained through a simple application process at the Consulate office nearest you.

Instructions

      Print and complete a Passport Application from the Philippine Embassy website (see Resources).

      Locate the Philippine Embassy or Consulate in your jurisdiction and set an appointment to apply for a passport (see Resources).

      Provide proof of your Filipino nationality by presenting any of the following documents: original birth certificate, certificate of nationality, declaration of nationality or naturalization card.

      Submit at least two color passport photographs 4.5 by 3.5 cm in size. They must be a frontal portrait of the face taken against a white background and without any glasses or anything worn on the head. The photos must be taken no more than 30 days previous to your passport application being processed.

      Pay the processing and service fees, which will vary with each designated consulate and whether or not you require expedited service. Passports are processed anywhere from one business day to several weeks, and can be sent to you by mail at an extra cost.
