The following documents are required for a Belgium Schengen visa application:
- Visa Application Form: It can be filled out online or downloaded from the Belgian embassy website.
- Two recent passport-style photos: The photos must be sized 35x45 mm, in color, and taken within the last 6 months.
- Passport: Your passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond the intended date of departure from the Schengen area.
- Proof of Travel Insurance: This insurance must cover medical emergencies and repatriation expenses with a minimum coverage of €30,000.
- Proof of Accommodation: This can be a hotel reservation, a rental agreement or an invitation from a host.
- Proof of Financial Means: This can be bank statements, pay slips or a sponsorship letter. You must show that you have sufficient funds to cover your expenses during your stay in the Schengen area.
- Flight Itinerary: This document should show your round-trip flight tickets to and from the Schengen area.
- Cover letter: State the purpose of your visit and your travel itinerary.
- Previous Schengen Visa (if applicable)
- Police clearance certificate: (if applying outside the Philippines)
Step 2: Fill out the Visa Application Form
- Fill in the visa application form completely and accurately. Make sure your name and passport number are entered correctly. Sign and date the form in the appropriate places.
- Make copies of all your documents. You will need to submit the originals along with the copies to the Belgian embassy.
Step 3: Submit your visa application
You can submit your visa application either in person or by post to the Belgian embassy or consulate in your country of residence.
- If submitting in person, bring your original documents as well as the copies, and be prepared to pay the visa application fee.
- If submitting by post, send all your documents via registered mail. Make sure to include a self-addressed envelope with sufficient postage for the return of your documents.
Step 4: Wait for a decision on your visa application
The processing time for a Belgium Schengen visa application can take up to 15 days, but it can sometimes take longer. You will be notified of the decision on your visa application via email or post.
- If your visa application is successful, you will be issued a Schengen visa sticker on your passport.
- If your visa application is denied, you will be informed of the reasons for the refusal. You may also have the right to appeal the decision.
Step 5: Enter the Schengen Area
- Once you have obtained your Schengen visa, you can travel to Belgium and any other Schengen country within the validity of your visa.
- Make sure to carry your passport and visa with you at all times when traveling in the Schengen Area.
