The ArmSport .50 caliber is an Italian-made, single-shot, break-action muzzleloading rifle (often called a "shotgun" in error—it's a rifled muzzleloader) designed for hunting and target shooting. This is a summary guide; always consult the manufacturer's original manual for your specific model.

Critical Safety Rules (Read First)

• Treat as LOADED always. Even if you "know" it's empty.
• Muzzle control: Point in safe direction at all times.
• Trigger discipline: Finger OFF trigger until sights on target.
• Know your target AND what's beyond. Muzzleloader balls/bullets travel 1,000+ yards.
• No hard surfaces: Never shoot at rocks, metal, water — ricochet risk.
• Black powder ONLY. No smokeless powder. Use FFg/FFFg black powder or approved substitutes (Pyrodex, Triple Seven) by volume, not weight.
• Correct projectile: .50 cal round ball + patch, or .50 cal conical/sabot per manual.

Assembly (Typical Break-Action)

1. Ensure action open, barrel clear.
2. Insert barrel into receiver; rotate to lock (align lugs).

Loading Procedure (Muzzleloading)

1. Clear: Cap nipple, point down, ensure no spark/ember.
2. Powder: Measure by volume (powder measure) — typical 80–100 gr FFg / 70–90 gr FFFg / substitute equivalent. Pour down bore.
3. Patch & Ball: Lubed patch (0.015–0.018") on .490" ball. Center on muzzle. Start with short starter.
4. Ram: Ramrod — firm, steady pressure. Seat ball firmly on powder (no air gap). Mark ramrod at muzzle for reference.
5. Prime: Place #11 percussion cap on nipple (or 209 primer if inline conversion).
6. Safety ON (if equipped) until ready to fire.

Unloading (If Not Fired)

1. Remove cap/primer.
2. CO2 discharger (best) — or remove breech plug (if designed) — or fire into safe backstop.
3. Never leave loaded gun unattended.

Operation

1. Point at safe target/backstop.
2. Safety OFF.
3. Full cock hammer (if exposed).
4. Smooth trigger press.
5. Follow through — hold position.

Maintenance (After Every Use)

• Clean bore: Hot soapy water + bore brush (nylon/bronze) → patches until clean. No petroleum solvents on black powder fouling.
• Clean breech plug: Remove, soak, brush threads, anti-seize on reassembly.
• Wipe exterior: Light oil (Ballistol, Bore Butter) on metal. Wood: stock wax/oil.
• Inspect: Crown, rifling, nipple/primer channel, stock screws, lock mechanism.
• Store: Unloaded, breech open, cool dry place. Desiccant in case.
