Operated by the same family that founded it almost 80 years ago, the award-winning Snapper Inn Waterfront Restaurant offers views of the Connetquot river, on which it's located. Seafood highlights the appetizer, soup and salad offerings. Beef, pork, veal and seafood items, like osso bucco, sauerbraten, bouillabaisse and lobster and scallop pot pie highlight the list of entrées. Lunch offers a similar menu, with the additions of sandwiches, burgers and wraps. A reasonably priced children's menu is available during lunch and dinner. The Sunday brunch features limitless champagne and mimosas with the wide variety of dinner choices that include salmon, lamb, duck, pork, turkey, chicken and shrimp dishes. Another restaurant on the Connetquot, The Riverview Restaurant was once a part of the large Vanderbilt estate, Idle Hour. Built in 1888, the site offers a beautiful view of the Great South Bay from its outdoor deck and elegant dining room. The lunch menu starts with a large selection of primarily seafood appetizers, as well as soups and salads. Plenty of sandwiches, burgers and wraps, including a lobster BLT and ahi tuna and crab cake sandwiches, complement several pastas and lobster and crab leg choices. Dinner offers more than 25 seafood appetizers, soups and seafood dishes. Complementary entrées include veal, chicken, pasta and steak selections. A tempting selection of desserts and coffee complete The Riverview's offering. An expansive Sunday brunch buffet, with unlimited champagne and mimosas, is also available.
