How to Find a Sunday Mass When Traveling

It can be a challenge for traveling Catholics to find Mass in unfamiliar areas. The challenge is even greater for Catholics traveling abroad. Thankfully there are several resources available to help Catholics find a home away from home anywhere in the world. It is helpful to prepare in advance, but if your itinerary is not definite yet you can still manage with a little information.

Instructions

Go to the Masstimes website to search for churches in the area to prepare for your trip. It is a good idea to call the parish you intend on visiting directly or visit their own website in order to confirm the time for Mass. Masstimes is a good starting point but it doesn't take into account seasonal or emergency schedule changes.

Copy down the Masstimes number: 1-410-676-6000. You can use this while traveling. You call and enter a zip code or local phone number and a computer will read you Mass times and church locations in the area.

Contact the front desk at a hotel. If you are staying there they may be able to research churches nearby. Even if you are not staying there, they may have the information right at hand. This may be especially helpful if you are traveling abroad. Hotel staff will have the advantage of speaking the local language.
