Once you complete the visa application, it takes approximately two to four days for processing. You must apply for your visa to Brazil before you leave on your trip. You have 90 days to leave for your trip once you have obtained the visa. A travel document is valid for up to a 90-day visit. You can travel to Brazil for five years on one visa, unless otherwise noted on the paper. If you need a longer stay, you must apply for an extension.
A Brazil tourist visa application should be completed for each member of the traveling party. When you send the application in as a tourist visa, you will need to show a copy of your ticket with dates of your travel arrangements. You will also need to show a valid driver's license or an identification card. When you apply for a tourist visa, you cannot conduct any type of business or schooling while on vacation.
When you are traveling to Brazil for business, you will need a business visa. The requirements are different from a tourist visa. You will still need to show your tickets and license or identification card. However, you will also need to produce a letter from the company explaining your business purposes. Additional information may be requested by the government.
To get a visa, you will first need a passport valid, valid for six months before you apply for the document. Children under the age of 18, traveling with one parent must have a notarized statement from the other parent. If the minor is traveling alone or with friends, both parents must sign the application. A legal guardian can sign the document as well. Brazil has a large problem with international child abduction, hence the extra precautions.
If you are traveling to other countries before you head to Brazil, you may need a yellow fever vaccination. If you are traveling directly from North America, there is no need to worry. However, Brazil requires a yellow fever vaccination when you have traveled from certain other countries, including some other Latin American locations.
