All passengers are required to present some type of government-issued photo identification, such as a driver's license, at the ticket counter when they check in at the airport. Keep the ID handy as you will also need to present it at any security checkpoints throughout the airport as well as at the boarding gates.
Only persons who have valid tickets are permitted past the security checkpoints at the airport. Exceptions will be made for non-travelers accompanying under-age children at the airport as well as for elderly travelers and those with special needs who need assistance getting through the gate areas.
You should take all metal objects out of your pockets before you reach the metal detectors. In addition to keys and change, other metal objects, such as heavy jewelry, buttons, hair barrettes, belt buckles, and even body piercings, can set off the detectors. Electronic items, like a laptop computer or your cell phone, will require an additional screening. You must also remove your shoes.
Each passenger is allowed to have only one regular carry-on as well as one other item like a purse or a briefcase. Carry-ons are subject to size and weight restrictions.
Generally, you should arrive at the airport no later than 90 minutes before your flight is scheduled to depart. Allow extra time for check-in, screenings, baggage checks, etc. during busy travel times such as during the holidays.
