The club was founded in 1949 as BC Sparta and took its current name in 1998. Sofia Jets have been a dominant force in Bulgarian basketball ever since, winning the National Championship in six of the last seven seasons. The club has also won the Bulgarian Cup nine times in the last 11 years.
Sofia Jets have had several notable players over the years, including former NBA stars Aleksandar Djordjevic, Ivica Zubac, and Bojan Bogdanovic. The current team is led by American guard Deishuan Booker, who has been with the club since 2018.
The team's arena, the Arena Sofia, has a capacity of 15,000 people and is one of the largest and most modern arenas in Europe.
