Are sugar gliders legal in Puerto Rico?

Sugar gliders are not legal in Puerto Rico. The possession, sale, import and exportation of sugar gliders is prohibited by the Puerto Rico Department of Natural and Environmental Resources (DNER). The DNER has classified sugar gliders as an invasive species, citing the potential harm they can cause to native wildlife.
