Some of the equipment was left in Vietnam intentionally, as part of the U.S. strategy to support the South Vietnamese government. Other equipment was abandoned or destroyed as the U.S. withdrew its forces.
In the years after the U.S. withdrawal, the equipment was used by the North Vietnamese and South Vietnamese armies. Some of it was also used by various militias and paramilitary groups. Eventually, much of the equipment was abandoned or destroyed.
Today, there are only a few relics of the U.S. military presence in Vietnam. These include a few tanks and artillery pieces that are on display in museums, as well as some abandoned vehicles that can be found in remote areas.
