Who made the first trans-Atlantic flight?

On May 20-21, 1927, Charles Lindbergh (1902-1974) made history by becoming the first person to successfully complete a non-stop solo flight across the Atlantic Ocean. At the time, the flight was almost as unbelievable as it was historic. Lindbergh's solo crossing signaled the beginning of a new technological age that made the formerly unreachable now attainable.
