What happened to the Conant Ball furniture company of Gardner Massachusetts?

Conant Ball's furniture company shut down in 2002 due to bankruptcy. The company was unable to compete with companies producing cheaper furniture. Conant Ball was one of the oldest furniture manufacturers in the United States, going back to the late 18th century. The company was known for its high-quality furniture but it was simply not able to compete in the modern market.
