Adventurous Weekend Trips

An adventure vacation may be what you're looking for if you're an adrenaline junkie or just someone looking to enjoy the great outdoors. Few people have the resources or time to take weeks off work or school to take these trips, so perhaps a mini-vacation or a weekend trip will better suit you. A few days is all you really need to enjoy what nature has to offer.
  1. Whitewater Rafting

    • Whitewater rafters use an inflatable raft to navigate through a body of water (generally a river). Because of its dangers, third-party companies require rafters to sign a waiver. Popular whitewater rafting locations in North America include the following:

      Salmon River, Idaho

      Arkansas River, Colorado

      Green River, Utah

Chattanooga River, Georgia and South Carolina

    Hiking

    • Go hiking and spend some quality time with nature. Hike through mountain ranges and national parks, including Yosemite National Park, Death Valley, and the Rockies. Hiking trips can be planned through a third-party company and will most likely be taken with a group led by a guide. If you prefer to go it alone, do some research on where you're traveling, including possible dangers and permit requirements are (if any) for camping.

    Winter Sports in Canada

    • Enjoy a weekend of cross-country skiing or just hitting the slopes in Canada. Canada offers a range of skiing and snowboarding locations, including Mont Tremblant, Apex Mountain and Mont Orford. Mont Tremblant offers a 30-acre area designated for winter sport stunts guaranteed to keep your adrenaline pumping.

    Water Sports in Key West

    • Take a trip to Key West in Florida to explore all of the water sports and sport fishing that the Keys have to offer. In Key West, you will be in close proximity to sport-fishing charter boats, scuba-diving schools, windsurfing and water skiing. Hotels, bed-and-breakfasts, campgrounds and vacation rentals are available for lodging.

    Rock Climbing in Nevada

    • Take a trip to Nevada and learn how to rock climb. Red Rocks, Nevada offers many rock-climbing areas for both the experienced and novice rock climber. The best part about taking a rock-climbing trip to Red Rocks is that you will be in close proximity to the Las Vegas strip.
