Southern Explorations offers two fly-drive vacations in Costa Rica. Choose the eight-day Classic Fly and Drive package or ramp it up with the Adventure Fly and Drive vacation. Both offer rental cars, airport transfer, itineraries and lodging. The Classic tour starts with a drive from San Jose to the Arenal volcano area. Spend the day exploring the Cano Negro wildlife refuge, relaxing in the Tabacon hot springs or take a guided rainforest canopy tour. Drive to Monteverde and explore the Cloud Forest Biological Reserve with its trails, suspension bridges and treetop platforms. Drive to Manuel Antonio, where you'll spend the next two days exploring national parks and beaches before driving back to San Jose to drop off your rental car. The Adventure package follows the same general itinerary, but adds in activities including whitewater rafting on the Pacuare River, a hike into the Turrialba volcanic crater, a ride in an aerial tram, and horseback riding near Arenal.
