Haunted Restaurants in Minneapolis

Nicknamed the "Mill City" and "City of Lakes," Minneapolis is located in Hennepin County and considered the largest city in the state of Minnesota. With a historic background dating to Victorian times, its diverse lakes and parks plus its eclectic infrastructure, Minneapolis has the perfect setting for stories of haunted places to arise. Aside from anecdotes of haunted trails, buildings, libraries, lakes and parks, several incidents related to haunted restaurants in business today, still prevail.
  1. Forepaugh's Restaurant

    • Located in a three-story Victorian mansion, this historic building named Forepaugh's Restaurant offers patrons New American Cuisine in a setting that delivers a 19th-century motif, with crystal chandeliers and rare antiques as décor. Aside from its elegant atmosphere and delicious food, this restaurant is known for being haunted. Rumors say that several spirits linger in this mansion. These are rumored to be the spirit of Joseph Forepaugh who committed suicide in a nearby park, his wife and a maid who supposedly hanged herself on the uppermost floor of the mansion. Witnesses report hearing loud footsteps around the mansion or seeing the lights switch off and on, others say they have actually seen ghosts who they believe to be of Joseph and his wife.

    Billy's Bar & Grill

    • Located in downtown Anoka, Billy's Bar & Grill serves a wide array of dishes in a casual yet classy atmosphere. The building that houses this restaurant offers a beautiful sight and is recorded as a historic structure according to the National Register. However, its obscure history has been haunting this place since the early 1900s. According to witnesses, sightings of a woman on the third floor have been occurring for years. Historians offer two possibilities as to who this woman could be. Some say it's a prostitute that went missing in the 1920s when this building was a hotel, and others speculate that it could be Lotta, wife of the former owner, Charles Jackson, of the building named. Reports of objects moving, strange noises and flickering lights are among the most extraordinary.

    Anthony's Parkway Grille

    • Anthony's Parkway Grille is the ideal restaurant to visit for fine dining, drinks and fun. Aside of its delicious food and wide array of beers, wines and cocktails, this restaurant has become a popular destination among locals for its live music and comedy nights. However, the building where Anthony's Parkway Grille is located has a history that didn't always involve fun and games. Prior to Anthony's Grille, a restaurant called Benchwarmer Bob's was located in the same location. Many employees of Benchwarmer Bob's reported full apparitions of what seemed to be a Native American. According to witnesses, these apparitions occurred in the basement hallway. Currently nothing has been reported under new ownership.
