It is generally not safer to ride a roller coaster than to cross the street. In fact, roller coasters have a much higher risk of injury than crossing the street. For example, in the United States, there were an average of 1,000 injuries related to roller coasters each year from 2014 to 2018, while there were an average of 4,500 pedestrian deaths each year from 2009 to 2018.
