Cheap Motels near Somerville, Massachusetts

Somerville is a suburb of the Boston metropolitan area in eastern Massachusetts. First settled in 1630, it was officially incorporated as a city in 1872. Somerville is home to a diverse multi-ethnic community, as well as a large population of artists. There are plenty of accommodations to be had in town, but they may not necessarily be described as cheap. More reasonably priced hotels can be found in the surrounding areas.
  1. Best Western

    • Best Western's Hotel Tria is a moderately priced hotel just three miles from Somerville in Cambridge. Rooms can cost as little as $99 a night as of December 2010. This hotel features a number of amenities to make your stay comfortable, including a free breakfast buffet. The hotel offers shuttle services to nearby "T" stations, Boston's public transit system, for easy and affordable transportation options. The hotel is only a half-mile from Fresh Pond Country Club, an 18-hole public golf course, and it is only one mile from the Harvard Museum of Natural History. You can grab a bite or an evening quaff at the hotel's lobby bar and panini kitchen. If you are in search of something else, try any of the nearby restaurants, such as Ma Magoos or Basha Cafe, which are a block away. Or grab something from the Trader Joe's or Whole Foods Market in the adjacent Fresh Pond Shopping Center. Pets are welcome at this hotel for an additional fee.

    Econo Lodge

    • Just five miles north of Somerville is Malden, where you will find the reasonably priced Econo Lodge. Rooms run as little as $59 a night as of December 2010, but offer little more than a bed, television and bathroom. The hotel is only a few short blocks from a "T" station at Adam's Plaza Shopping Center, making transportation close and affordable. The hotel is two miles from Mount Hood Memorial Park and Golf Course and four miles from the Boston Gardens, where the Celtics and Bruins play. If you are looking for something to eat, there are several restaurants to choose from within a half-mile, including Dragon Island, Ristorante Serena, 24 Club and Maria's Pizzeria. The Econo Lodge doesn't allow pets.

    Super 8

    • Six miles west of Somerville, the Super 8 in Watertown offers lower-cost accommodations for those looking to visit the area and not break the bank. All of the hotel's rooms are non-smoking, and prices start at $74 a night. The hotel offers a few of the creature comforts of the modern age, including a free breakfast. The hotel is mere blocks from a "T" station and the Watertown Mall Shopping Center. It is five miles from Boston College and Fenway Park, where the Red Sox play. There are several restaurants near the hotel to suit any craving, including Wild Willy's, UFood Grill and Victor's Diner. This hotel doesn't allow pets.

    40 Berkeley

    • Another low-cost option in the heart of Boston, six miles south of Somerville, is the hostel 40 Berkeley. The hostel offers several different-sized rooms with a variety of amenities to make your stay more enjoyable, and it is four blocks from a "T" station. Room prices vary with the size, but a single room starts at $58 a night as of December 2010. The hostel is in central downtown Boston, so everything is close by, including Copley Square, Back Bay and several public parks and gardens. Dining options abound in the downtown area, including Fritz Lounge, Twenty Eight Degrees, Masa, The Beehive and Picco, all within a block. All guests must be over the age of 18, so this option wouldn't work for families.
